Step 1: Blot Immediately

When you notice stain, act quickly and begin blotting the area with a clean, dry rag or paper towel. Do not rub or scrub at the stain, as this will only spread the soy sauce into the fabric’s fibers.

Step 2: Pre-Treat

Once you have blotted up the excess liquid, add a few drops of dishwashing soap or pre-treatment solution to the area and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. After this time, rinse the area with cold water.

Step 3: Launder

After pre-treating the stain, launder the suit as normal, using cool water and a mild detergent. If possible, try to wash suit in a separate cycle from other items.

Step 4: Repeat

If the stain persists after laundering, repeat steps two and three until the stain has completely disappeared.

Final Step: Dry

Finally, after the stain has been removed, make sure to dry the suit completely. Hang it in a well-ventilated area or lay it flat on a clean towel to dry.

Conclusion

Soy sauce stains might have you feeling like all hope is lost. But with a bit of pre-treatment and patience, it doesn’t have to mean the end of your favorite business suit. Just follow the steps outlined above and you’ll be ready for that next meeting in no time.
