The first step in removing any stain is to act as soon as possible. The quicker you can start pre-treating the stain, the better chance you have of successfully eliminating it.

  • Mix one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with two cups of cold water.
  • Using a clean white cloth, sponge the mixture onto stained area.
  • Gently blot the fabric until the stain is removed. If the stain persists, try using a solution of one tablespoon of white vinegar in one cup of water instead of the original mixture.
  • Soak the fabric in the vinegar solution for one hour, rinse with cold water, and then launder using the warmest water safe for the fabric.

In some cases, the stain may require harsher cleaning agents to completely obliterate it from the fabric. If pre-treating and laundering do not completely remove the soy sauce stain, move on to the following steps:

  • Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with half a cup of water.
  • Apply the ammonia solution to the stain and let sit for five minutes.
  • Rinse the fabric with cold water. If the stain persists, mix one tablespoon of chlorine bleach with one quart of water and apply liberally to the stain. Rinse with cold water immediately.
  • Launder the fabric using the hottest water safe for the fabric.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully remove soy sauce stains from your broomstick lace. However, always use caution when applying these cleaning agents and make sure that the fabric is colorfast before proceeding.
