Steps for Cleaning Soy Sauce Stains from a Blazer
- As soon as possible after noticing the stain, use cold water to rinse the spot from the back side of the blazer.
- Blot the stain with a damp cloth or paper towel – don’t rub it as this could cause the stain to spread.
- If the stain has already begun to set in, combine mild dish soap with warm water to create suds and then sponge affected area gently with the suds.
- Using a clean cloth (or paper towel), rinse stain with fresh tap water and let the blazer dry completely before applying any other cleaning products.
- If the stain is still visible, mix white vinegar and cool water together in a spray bottle and spritz the area lightly. Then, blot the stain with a dry cloth and let it air dry.
- For really stubborn stains, try using a mixture of equal parts hydrogen peroxide and cold water – just make sure to test the solution in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.
- Once the area is dry, apply a stain remover specific for soy sauce stains and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse the area with cold water afterwards and repeat until the stain is gone.
Tips for Preventing Soy Sauce Stains on a Blazer
- Avoid wearing light-colored blazers when eating food that contains soy sauce.
- If you do wear a lighter blazer, consider wearing a bib or napkin around your neck to protect the fabric from getting stained.
- If you spill soy sauce on your blazer by accident, act quickly and take the proper steps outlined above.
