Accidents happen and we’ve all been there - a wayward drop of soy sauce that lands on your pristine, white bikini. But don’t panic - no matter the color of your swimsuit, there are a few simple steps you can take to remove a soy sauce stain.
Before attempting to remove the soy sauce stain, it’s important to start by blotting up as much of the sauce as possible. Place a folded paper towel beneath the stained area and gently press down with your fingers. This will help absorb as much of the soy sauce as possible without pushing stain deeper into the fibers of your swimsuit.
Once you’ve blotted away any excess soy sauce, it’s time to make a stain-removing solution. First, mix 1 tsp of liquid dish soap and 1 cup of warm water in a bowl. Scoop out a portion of the solution and apply it to the stained area using a soft cloth or cotton pad.
Let soap and water solution sit on the stain for 10-15 minutes before scrubbing it gently with a soft toothbrush. Be sure not to scrub too hard, as this may cause the stain to spread or even become imprinted into fabric of your bathing suit.
Once you’ve scrubbed the area, rinse off the soap and water solution with lukewarm water. Gently pat the area dry with a clean cloth and then let the bathing suit air dry completely before wearing it again.
