The ideal technique to clean soy sauce stains depends on the type and colour of the material. If your ball gown is delicate and made of a natural fibre like cotton or silk, the first step is to gently dab the stain with a damp cloth to remove any excess liquid. Then, mix 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with 2 cups of cool water to make a cleaning solution. Soak a clean cloth in mixture and press it against the stain. Keep dabbing the stain in this manner for a few minutes before rinsing and then letting it air-dry.

If your ball gown is made of synthetic fabric, it is better to use white vinegar instead of detergent. Mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 2 cups of warm water, and soak a cloth in the solution. Blot the stain with the cloth until the spot is removed or significantly lightened. Rinse with cold water and allow it to dry naturally.

Another helpful method to get rid of soy sauce stains is to use a spoonful of glycerine and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply the mixture onto stain and leave it on for about 15 minutes before rinsing. You can then blot area with a dry cloth and, if necessary, do a cold wash.

It is always recommended to test a small area of the fabric beforehand to check for any colorfastness and that the cleaning product does not harm the material. Once the stain is gone, it is essential to wash and dry your ball gown as soon as possible; otherwise, the stain may set in permanently.
