If you've got a soy sauce stain on clothing, the first thing you need to do is act fast. The sooner you begin treating the stain, the easier it will be to remove it.
Start by blotting the stained area with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the soy sauce as possible. Do not scrub or vigorously rub the stain.
Once you have removed as much of the excess soy sauce as possible, you'll need to pretreat the remaining stain. First, mix one part liquid laundry detergent with two parts cool water. Use a sponge or cloth to gently apply the mixture to the stain. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
After pretreatment has had time to work, rinse the area with cold water. You may need to repeat the pretreatment process multiple times to fully get rid of the stain. Once the stain is gone, launder the garment as usual.
It's important to know that the methods for removing soy sauce stains from clothing may not be suitable for all other types of surfaces. In some cases, you may need to use more abrasive cleaning methods.
For non-porous surfaces such as countertops and tile, start by blotting the stain with a cloth or paper towel. Then mix one teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of warm water. Use a sponge or cloth to apply the mixture to stain. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and then rinse with clean water.
For harder surfaces such as ceramics or glass, you may need to use a special cleaner designed for that surface. Follow the instructions on the product for best results.
