Removing shoe polish from clothing can seem like a daunting task, but don't worry—it's actually pretty simple. The key is to act quickly and not let the stain set in. Here are the steps for getting rid of shoe polish stains on your yoga pants:
- Act quickly. As soon as you notice the shoe polish on your yoga pants, grab a damp cloth and gently dab it onto the stain. This will help keep the stain from setting in and make it easier to remove.
- Pre-treat the stain. Create a mixture of ¼ cup white vinegar and ¼ cup water and apply it directly to the stained area. If the fabric is dark, opt for a ¼ cup baking soda and ¼ cup vinegar instead. Let pre-treatment sit for 15 minutes.
- Clean the stain. After the pre-treatment has had time to set, rinse the fabric with cold water. If the stain is still there, use a mild detergent to work into fabric and gently scrub the stain with a soft bristle brush. Repeat this until the stain is gone.
- Rinse and dry. Once the stain is gone, rinse the fabric again with cold water and then air dry or dry on low heat setting.
If all else fails, taking your yoga pants to a professional cleaner is another option to consider. Professional cleaners have special cleaning solutions that can easily remove tough stains and leave your pants looking as good as new!
