Gather the Right Supplies

Before you can start tackling the stain, you must gather the proper cleaning supplies. You will need:

  • A gentle detergent
  • A soft cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • A soft scrub brush

Pre-Treat the Stain

Once you have all the necessary supplies, you’re ready to start pre-treating the shoe polish stain. Begin by dabbing at stain with a cloth dampened with white vinegar, which will help cut through the grease in the shoe polish. Afterward, sprinkle some baking soda onto the stained area and lightly scrub with a soft brush. Finally, rinse away the baking soda with water.

Hand or Machine Wash

If the item is safe for machine washing, set the machine to a cold cycle. Add a gentle detergent and fabric softener – then let the cycle run its course.

If your Versace item must be hand washed, fill a sink with cold water and add a gentle detergent to the water. Gently agitate the fabric until the soap has distributed throughout water. Soak item for 10 minutes before rinsing it in cold water and allowing it to dry.
