Things You Will Need

  • Dish soap or laundry detergent
  • Warm water
  • Cleaning cloths
  • White vinegar (optional)
  • Scrub brush (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix a small amount of liquid dish soap, laundry detergent, or hand soap with a cup of warm water. Use a cleaning cloth to scrub the affected area with the soapy solution.
  2. Rinse area with clean warm water and then allow it to air dry.
  3. If there is still some residue left on the tent or camping gear, mix a small amount of white vinegar with a cup of warm water. Soak a clean cloth in the mixture and then scrub the area with the vinegar solution.
  4. Rinse area with clean warm water and then allow it to air dry.
  5. If the stain is still present after the previous steps, use a scrub brush with a mixture of soapy water and gently scrub the area until all the shoe polish is removed.
  6. Once the shoe polish stain is gone, rinse the area with clean warm water and then allow it to air dry.

Tips

  • Always test the cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area first to ensure it will not damage material of the tent or camping gear.
  • If the shoe polish stain does not come out after using the above methods, try using a commercial spot remover.
