What You Need

  • Soft cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Dry-cleaning solvent
  • Bowl
  • Sponge
  • Paper towels

Step 1: Blot Up the Stain

First, take a soft cloth and carefully blot up as much of the excess shoe polish as possible. Do not rub or scrub, as this can damage suede. Once you have blotted up as much as possible, dip a clean sponge in a bowl filled with white vinegar and water and gently dab the affected area. Again, do not scrub.

Step 2: Apply Dry-Cleaning Solvent

Once the vinegar solution has had a chance to sit, apply some dry-cleaning solvent to a clean cloth and dab the affected area. Once again, do not scrub. After dabbing, take a paper towel and gently pat away any remaining moisture.

Step 3: Finish Up

Finally, allow area to air-dry. If necessary, you can use a blow-dryer set to the lowest setting to speed up drying process. Once area is dry, brush away any residual polish with a suede brush.
