Here’s what you’ll need before getting started:

  • Paper towels or a dry cloth
  • Warm water
  • Gentle laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Toothbrush

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Start by gently blotting the stained area of the fabric with a paper towel or dry cloth. This will help to absorb some of excess shoe polish.

Step 2: Apply Detergent and Water

Mix a few drops of gentle laundry detergent with warm water and use a clean cloth or brush to apply this solution to the stained area. Let it soak for 10 minutes, then rinse it with fresh warm water.

Step 3: Use White Vinegar and Rubbing Alcohol

Mix equal parts white vinegar and rubbing alcohol together, and apply it to the stained area with a toothbrush. Scrub the fabric gently in a circular motion, and let the mixture sit on the fabric for a few minutes before rinsing it with warm water.

Step 4: Wash and Dry

For best results, launder sports bra as per care instructions on the label. Tumble dry on low heat, or air dry garment flat or hanging.

Following these steps should help to remove shoe polish stains from a sports bra, however, if the stain persists a professional dry cleaner may be able to help.
