What You'll Need

  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Old toothbrush
  • Clean towels

Instructions

  1. Gently scrape off any excess shoe polish from the fabric using a dull knife or spoon.
  2. Create a paste using dish soap, baking soda and white vinegar. Mix until it forms a thick paste.
  3. Spread the paste over the stained area and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Gently scrub the stained area with an old toothbrush. Rinse with warm water.
  5. If the stain persists, repeat steps 2-4.
  6. Once the stain has been removed, gently dab the area with a clean towel to absorb any remaining moisture.

Tips

  • Be sure to use a gentle hand when scraping away excess shoe polish.
  • Before trying any cleaning methods on your socks, test them first on an inconspicuous area to make sure they won’t cause further damage.
  • Do not put your socks in the washing machine as this may set stain permanently.
