What You Will Need

  • Dish soap
  • Warm water
  • White vinegar
  • Cotton cloths

Removing The Stain

  • Blot the stained area of the silk shantung using a white cotton cloth.
  • Mix two cups of warm water with one tablespoon of dish soap in a basin.
  • Dip a clean, white cotton cloth in the solution and gently rub it into the stained area of the fabric.
  • Allow the soapy solution to remain on the stain for several minutes before rinsing with clear, warm water.
  • If the stain is still visible, try using a solution of one cup of warm water and one cup of white vinegar. Again, dip a clean cloth in the solution and rub it into the stained area before rinsing with warm, clear water.
  • Allow the fabric to air dry.
