What You'll Need:
- Plastic container
- Laundry detergent (or gentle soap like castile soap)
- Cleaning cloth
- Cold water
- White vinegar
- Soft bristled brush
- Paper towels
Instructions
- Start by placing the stained area of the sari in a plastic container filled with cold water.
- Add one tablespoon of laundry detergent (or gentle soap like castile soap) to the water and stir.
- Soak the sari in the solution for about 15 minutes. This will loosen up the staining substances.
- Once the sari has soaked, use a soft bristled brush to gently scrub stain. Don't be too aggressive as this can damage the fabric.
- Rinse the sari in cold water.
- If the stain remains, repeat steps 3 and 4.
- If the stain still doesn't come out, mix 1 cup of cold water with 1 cup of white vinegar. Use a clean cloth to dab this mixture onto stained area.
- Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes then rinse with cold water.
- Air dry the garment. Do not put it in the dryer.
Additional Tips
- It's best to treat stains immediately, before they have a chance to set.
- Always read garment care label on the sari before attempting any stain removal.
- If stain persists, take garment to a professional dry cleaner for assistance.
