What You'll Need

  • Cotton swabs
  • Stain remover
  • Laundry detergent
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Towel or cloth

Steps for Removing Stains

  1. Blot the stain with a towel or cloth to absorb as much of the shoe polish as possible. Do not rub the fabric, as this may spread stain.
  2. Dampen a swab with warm water and gently blot the stained area, being careful not to rub into the fabric. This step should help dilute the remaining stain.
  3. Apply a few drops of stain-remover to the affected area and let sit for a few minutes. After the specified time, rinse away the product with warm water and pat the fabric dry with a towel.
  4. Create a paste of laundry detergent, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing the area with warm water and patting dry.
  5. If the above methods do not work, try applying white vinegar to the stain. Allow the vinegar to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing the area with warm water and patting dry.

Additional Tips

  • Always test the cleaning products you use on a small, unseen area of the fabric first.
  • Be sure to read the care label on the garment before cleaning to avoid damaging the fabric.
