Removing In-Set Shoe Polish Stains

If the shoe polish stain is set in, use a finger or soft cloth to gently rub away the wax from fabric. Be careful not to spread the stain further, as this can drive the stain deeper into the fibers.

Using Dry-Cleaning Solvent for Difficult Stains

For stubborn stains, try using a dry-cleaning solvent to help break up the shoe polish. Apply a few drops of the solvent directly to the stain and gently rub it in with a cloth or your fingertips. Let the item sit for 15 minutes before washing.

Wash With Detergent & Treat With Oxygen Bleach

Put the pullover in a washing machine and add a heavily scented laundry detergent that is appropriate for type of fabric and wash according to the instructions. You may also want to add oxygen bleach, which will help remove remaining stains and restore the original color of the garment.

Air Dry & Re-Apply Solution

Once the pullover has been washed, allow it to air dry naturally. If the stain remains, re-apply the dry-cleaning solvent and let it sit for another 15 minutes before laundering again.
