Shoe polish stains can be a headache to remove from pet beds. Not only do they spread quickly, but they can also set deeply into fabrics. Luckily, there are some tried and true methods for eliminating shoe polish stains from pet beds.

Step One: Collect Your Supplies

The first step is collecting the supplies you will need. You will need a clean, white cloth along with a solution of one tablespoon of dish soap and one cup of warm water. If needed, you can also grab an old toothbrush with soft bristles.

Step Two: Blot Stain

Once you have collected your supplies, begin by blotting the stain. Take the white cloth, and using gentle movements, start pressing down on the shoe polish stain. This will help absorb some of the excess shoe polish. Do not rub stain, as this can cause it to spread further and sink deeper into the fabric.

Step Three: Apply the Solution

Next, apply the soap and water solution to the stain. Focus on the area that needs treatment, but be sure to work the solution around the edges of the stain too. You can do this with your fingertips or an old toothbrush.

Step Four: Rinse and Repeat

Finally, rinse the affected area with clean, warm water. Be careful not to use too much pressure as this may drive stain further into the fabric. Once you’ve finished rinsing, blot the area with a dry cloth to remove excess water. If necessary, repeat these steps until the shoe polish stain has been removed.
