Whether it’s an accident or intentional, shoe polish stain on muslin fabric can be an eyesore. While muslin is considered to be a durable fabric, with a bit of care and maintenance, you can easily get rid of the offending shoe polish stains.
What You Will Need:
- Cold water
- Dishwashing liquid
- White vinegar
- Sponge
- Towel
Steps to Follow:
- As soon as you notice the stains, blot excess shoe polish with a clean cloth or towel.
- Mix equal parts of cold water and dishwashing fluid in a bowl and dip a sponge in the mixture.
- Gently scrub the stained part of the muslin fabric with the soapy water.
- Rinse the fabric with cold water and allow it to dry.
- If the stains still remain, soak a clean cloth in white vinegar and dab it on the fabric.
- Let it stay for 15-20 minutes, then rinse it with cold water.
- Allow the fabric to air dry or dry it on low heat.
Additional Tips:
- It’s best to act quickly when you spot shoe polish stains on your muslin fabric. The longer the stain sets in, the more difficult it will be to remove.
- Prevention is better than cure. Always cover your shoes while wearing them indoors to avoid any unwanted stains.
- You can also use a mild washing detergent in place of dishwashing liquid for better results.
