Take a soft cloth or paper towel and gently scrape away any solids or chunks of shoe polish. Do not use a sharp object as this may cause damage to the surface of your purse.
If shoe polish has dried, use a dry cloth or paper towel to carefully blot the stain in order to absorb as much of the shoe polish as possible. Do not scrub or rub the stain as this may cause the stain to spread further.
Create a cleaning solution by combining warm water and some mild soap. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently dab the stained area until the stain begins to fade. Remember to always test the solution on an inconspicuous area first.
If the stain does not come off after a few minutes, try using a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Dab stained area with a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol until the stain fades. Again, remember to test alcohol on a small, unseen area first.
After you have removed the stain, rinse purse with clean, cold water. This will help remove any residual cleaning solution and soap that may be left behind. Then, pat dry with a soft cloth.
Once the stain is gone, it's a good idea to protect the purse from further damage. Consider applying a protective leather sealant or cream to help keep purse looking new and prevent future stains.
Shoe polish stains don't have to ruin your Michael Kors purse. With just a few simple steps, you can easily remove shoe polish stains and keep your purse looking beautiful for years to come.
