Inadvertent spills of shoe polish on kitchen utensils may be a common phenomenon, but they can leave stubborn stains that are not easy to get rid of. Fortunately, there are several easy methods that will help you effectively clean the affected items.

1. Use a Commercial Stain Remover

Purchase a good quality commercial stain remover and follow instructions given on the package. Spray the item directly with the cleaner and allow it to sit for few minutes. Then, use an old toothbrush to scrub gently. Rinse the item with warm water and repeat if necessary.

2. Try White Vinegar & Baking Soda

Make a thick paste by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and baking soda. Apply the paste on the surface of the affected item and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Scrub the area gently with a toothbrush before rinsing. Repeat as required.

3. Use a Home-made Paste

Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts cream of tartar to make a paste. Apply a generous amount of the paste on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. Gently scrub area with a soft brush and rinse with warm water. Cleaners such as dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent can also be used to remove shoe polish stains from kitchen items.

4. Cover the Stain with Salt

One of the least known tricks to get rid of shoe polish stains is to cover the affected area with salt and pour some hot water over it. Allow mixture to sit for a few minutes before scrubbing it off. Rinse the area with warm water and repeat the process if necessary.

5. Treat with Detergent

Create a lather using some detergent and spread it over the stained areas. Scrub the area gently using a dry toothbrush and rinse the item with lukewarm water. Repeat this process until the shoe polish stain fades away.
