Start by applying rubbing alcohol directly to the stain. Rub the stain gently with a cloth or sponge until the alcohol breaks down the shoe polish. Do not scrub as this will only spread the stain.
Apply a small amount of detergent to stained area and blot with a wet cloth. Use a mild detergent such as those used for hand-washing delicates. You may need to repeat this step several times until the stain is gone.
Once the stain is gone, rinse the jersey with cool water and air dry. If possible, hang jersey outside in the sun as this will help to naturally bleach and fade any remaining discoloration.
