Sometimes shoe polish can end up in places we don’t want it - like on our precious Hermes goods. If you’ve found yourself in this situation, don’t fear. Your Hermes garment can still be saved.

Leather Hermes Items

To begin, gather a few items that you’ll need. These include a damp cloth, white vinegar, non-gel toothpaste, baking soda, and baby wipes. Take the damp cloth and dab away any of the excess shoe polish you can find without rubbing it into the leather further.

Once you’ve done that, mix a small amount of white vinegar with an equal amount of non-gel toothpaste. Apply the mixture onto a clean, soft cloth or sponge and start working at the stained area. Gently rub the mixture into the leather in small circular motions until the shoe polish starts to lift.

After you have removed as much of shoe polish as possible, rinse the leather with warm water and use a dry cloth to blot away any of the remaining liquid.

Suede Hermes Items

Unlike leather, you’ll want to use a different mixture to get rid of shoe polish on suede. Start by lightly rubbing a piece of plain white bread on affected area. This will help remove some of the shoe polish.

Next, mix an equal parts of baking soda and water and apply the mixture onto a clean, soft cloth. Rub cloth over the area gently in small circular motions until the shoe polish starts to lift. Once you’ve removed as much as you can, use a dry cloth to blot away any of the remaining liquid.

Printed Fabric Hermes Items

For printed cocco shoe-maker fabric, start by dabbing the stained area with a damp cloth. Avoid rubbing to make sure the print is not damaged. Once excess stain is removed, take a baby wipe and gently rub it over the stained area in small circular motions until the shoe polish starts to lift.

Once you’ve removed as much of the shoe polish as possible, rinse the fabric with cold water and use a dry cloth to blot away any of the remaining liquid.
