Shoe polish can easily find its way onto leather handbags, often accidentally and without warning. Fortunately, there are a few simple steps you can take to remove shoe polish stains from your beloved handbags.

Step 1: Gather Supplies

Before getting started, you'll need to collect several supplies:

  • A drop cloth or large towel
  • A mild detergent
  • Dry cloths
  • Leather conditioner

Step 2: Clean the Stain

Once you have all of your supplies, start by laying down the drop cloth or towel and placing the bag on top. Next, create a paste with your mild detergent and a small amount of warm water. Gently rub the paste onto spot using a small circular motion and a soft cloth. Once it's covered, let it sit for a few minutes before wiping off with a wet cloth.

Step 3: Condition the Leather

After the leather is cleaned, it's important to condition the area. Use your leather conditioner and apply a small amount to the stain. Work the conditioner into the leather using a damp cloth in circular motions. Avoid using too much as it could cause more damage than good.

Step 4: Wipe Clean

Finally, use a dry cloth and wipe off the conditioner. This will help to preserve the leather and maintain its shine. You should notice the stain disappearing after a few minutes as you wipe away any remaining residue.

Now your handbag is looking as good as new free of shoe polish stains!
