Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

First, you will need some supplies to get the job done. You will need a clean, lint-free cloth, a mild detergent, white vinegar, baking soda, and a vacuum cleaner.

Step 2: Blot the Stain

Using a clean, lint-free cloth, blot the stain gently to remove any excess shoe polish. Avoid scrubbing as this may cause the stain to spread.

Step 3: Treat with Detergent and Vinegar

Mix a tablespoon of mild detergent with two tablespoons of white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and gently dab it onto stain. This will help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove. Leave the mixture to sit on stain for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse with Water and Vacuum

Blot the stain with a damp cloth to rinse away detergent and vinegar mixture. Then gently vacuum the area to remove any remaining residue.

Step 5: Use Baking Soda

If any traces of the shoe polish remain after vacuuming, sprinkle some baking soda over the stain and leave it to sit for 15-20 minutes. The baking soda will absorb the remainder of the stain. Finally, vacuum the baking soda off the furniture and the stain should be completely gone.
