Things You’ll Need:

  • Soft cloth or sponge
  • Warm water
  • Mild detergent
  • Cleaning brush

Step 1: Gently Blot the Stain

Take a soft cloth or sponge and gently blot the stained area of the shoe. Don’t rub it hard, as this can cause the shoe polish to go deeper into fabric of shoe.

Step 2: Create a Detergent Solution

Create a mix of warm water and mild detergent in a bowl. Gently dip the soft cloth in the solution and rub it onto the surface of shoe. Rub gently until entire area is covered.

Step 3: Rinse the Solution Off

Take a separate cloth and dampen it with fresh cold water. Use it to rinse off the detergent solution from the shoe.

Step 4: Spot Clean the Area

If any remaining residue remains after washing with the detergent solution, take a small cleaning brush and use it to spot clean the remaining areas. Then, rinse again with a fresh cloth and cool water.

Step 5: Dry the Shoes

Once the stain is removed, use a soft towel to gently pat dry the shoes. Allow them to air-dry naturally.

Bonus Tip

If you want to protect your shoes from stains in the future, apply a leather sealant. This will help to repel water, dirt, and oil.
