What You Need to Get Started
- Laundry detergent
- Borax powder (optional)
- Hydrogen peroxide (optional)
- Clean cloths/sponges
Instructions
- As soon as you notice the stain, rinse it with cool water. This will help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove later on.
- Apply laundry detergent directly to the stained area and gently agitate it with a clean cloth or sponge.
- Rinse the area with cool water to remove the detergent.
- If the stain still remains, create a solution of one part Borax powder to two parts water. Apply this mixture directly on the stain and agitate it with a clean cloth or sponge. Rinse the area with cool water.
- If the stain persists, you can use hydrogen peroxide in the same way as the Borax solution. Be sure to rinse with cool water after applying hydrogen peroxide to stain.
- Once all of the stain is gone, put the cotton twill in the wash with warm water and laundry detergent. Dry completely when finished.
And You're Done!
Congratulations—you have successfully removed shoe polish stains from cotton twill! You can now rest assured knowing that your fabric is back to its original condition.
