Not to worry, here are five common household remedies to clean your chiffon georgette and get rid of shoe polish stains:

1. Rubbing Alcohol

One of the easiest solutions to remove shoe polish stains from chiffon georgette is rubbing alcohol. Simply dab a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and start cleaning. Make sure you don’t over-rub the stain. It’s best to work from the outside of the stain and gradually move towards center.

2. White Vinegar

White vinegar is considered an effective home remedy to erase shoe polish stains on chiffon georgette. Create a mixture of white vinegar and lukewarm water and use a soft cloth to clean affected area. Alternatively, you could also use a cotton swab with white vinegar applied directly on stain.

3. Hair spray

If you’re looking for something readily available at home, try hair spray. Spray some on the affected area and let it stay for a few minutes. Then, use a soft cloth and wipe away the shoe polish stain.

4. Nail Polish Remover

You may have heard of nail polish remover being used to remove shoe polish stains. However, ensure to check label before buying one. This is because some products contain acetone, and it can damage your chiffon georgette.

5. Dish Soap

Dish soap is an ideal agent to break down the heavy molecules of the shoe polish. You can dissolve dish soap in lukewarm water and use a soft cloth to clean the stained area. Start off by wetting the cloth with the solution and gradually work on the stain, until it is gone.

We suggest that you take a small swatch of your fabric and try any of the above methods on that sample first, to make sure they work without damaging fabric. After you apply the remedy, also make sure to rinse your chiffon georgette properly with plain water.
