Removing Wet Stains

If the shoe polish stain is still wet, act quickly to prevent it from setting into the fabric. Use a clean cloth to gently blot away as much of the shoe polish as you can. Avoid rubbing stain, as this can cause it to spread. Once you’ve blotted away all the excess polish, apply a generous amount of liquid laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Let detergent sit for at least 15 minutes before washing in cold water.

Removing Dry Stains

If the shoe polish has already dried in the fabric of your Chico’s, you’ll need to begin with some pre-spotting. Use a clean cloth and lightly dab the area with a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. This will help to loosen the stain. Next, apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent or a pre-treatment product directly onto the stain and let it sit for several minutes. Finally, launder the item in cold water and air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Always read the care labels of your clothing and select the appropriate cleaning approach.
  • If the stain persists after the initial treatment, try applying a paste of baking soda and water directly onto stain and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  • If the stain still doesn’t come out after laundering, you may need to use a commercial spot remover.
