This is the simplest and most common method for tackling shoe polish stains on boxers. Begin by dabbing a little mild soap into stain and then pouring a small amount of tepid water onto the soaped area. Use a damp cloth to rub the material gently, beginning at the outer edges of the stain and working towards the center. This should slowly remove the stain.
If the stain has settled in more deeply, using a little detergent may be in order. Begin by pouring a teaspoon of color-safe detergent into a bowl of tepid water and mix until it’s frothy. Then, dip a clean cloth into the mixture and dab the cloth directly over the stained area. Gently rub while making sure not to scrub too hard as this may damage the material. You may need to repeat this process a few times.
Mix equal parts of white vinegar and tepid water, stirring with a spoon until combined. Dab a clean cloth with the solution and apply directly to the stained section of your boxers. Make sure to pat the area, not rub, and work from the outer edges inwards. The acidity in the vinegar should help break down the molecules of the stain. Once done, rinse boxers with lukewarm water.
Rubbing alcohol is a great tool for tougher stains. Begin by putting one part rubbing alcohol to two parts water in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle to combine mixture and lightly spray the stained area. Let it sit for a minute or two before dabbing it with a damp cloth. Don’t rub the fabric too hard as this could cause it to fray. If the stain is still there after one attempt, try spraying again and repeating the process.
Believe it or not, hairspray can be effective in removing shoe polish stains from your boxers. Dampen a clean cloth with warm water and rub over stain to moisten it. Spray a bit of hairspray directly onto the stain and let it soak for two minutes. Finally, use the damp cloth to dab away the stain, taking care to avoid scrubbing too hard.
