Steps To Clean Shoe Polish Stains From Boots
- Using a soft cloth or brush, gently scrub away any excess shoe polish from the boots.
- Once the area is cleaned off, apply a leather cleaner to the stained boot.
- Using a cloth, work leather cleaner into the boot, rubbing gently over the stain. Allow the cleaner to sit for about 5 minutes to allow it to soak in.
- Rinse the leather cleaner off with a damp cloth. Do not use anything abrasive, as it could damage the leather.
- Once the area is clean, apply a leather conditioner to nourish and protect the leather.
- Using a cloth, work the conditioner into the leather. Allow the conditioner to sit for at least an hour before wiping off any excess.
Preventative Tips
- Always test the leather cleaner and conditioner on an inconspicuous area of the boot to make sure it won't discolor it.
- When applying leather cleaners and conditioners, be sure to cover entire boot, not just the stained area. This will ensure even coverage and help to prevent any further staining.
- Be sure to wipe off any excess shoe polish immediately after applying it.
