Using a soft cloth or a plastic spoon, gently scrape away any excess shoe polish from the Battenberg lace. Take care not to press too hard, as this can damage the delicate fibers of the lace.
Mix ¼ cup of dish soap and 1 ½ cups of warm water in a clean bowl. Stir solution until it begins to foam.
Soak a clean cloth in cleaning solution and then dab it onto the shoe polish stain. Let cloth sit on stain for at least five minutes before wiping it off.
Rinse area with cold water and then blot it dry with a clean cloth. Once the Battenburg lace is dry, the shoe polish stain should be gone.
