No matter how careful you are when polishing shoes, it’s always possible to end up with a bit of shoe polish on some of your other clothing items. It’s even more common for those stains to end up on a bandana, since they’re usually within close proximity to your shoes as you finish up your polishing task.

What You Will Need

  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • White Vinegar
  • Dish Soap
  • Old Toothbrush
  • Bucket of Warm Water

Instructions

  1. Take the bandana with the shoe polish stain and soak it in warm water and a few drops of dish soap. This will help to make sure the stain doesn't set in or become too hard to remove.
  2. Use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the area with the shoe polish stain. Try to focus on stained area, while also being careful not to ruin the rest of the bandana.
  3. Mix one part rubbing alcohol and one part white vinegar and use this solution to dab onto the stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing area with more warm water.
  4. If the stain still won’t come out, then repeat the process again. Make sure to rinse area well after each application.
  5. Once the shoe polish stain has been completely removed, rinse the area with cold water and gently wring dry the bandana.
  6. Allow the bandana to air dry and then wear it proudly.Smile knowing that your bandana is now stain free!

Additional Tips

  • Always read the care instructions on the bandana before attempting to clean it, and follow them as closely as possible.
  • If the stain is particularly stubborn, you may want to try using a stain remover made specifically for fabrics.
  • Be sure to check the back side of the fabric for shoe polish stains as well, as some may have transferred during the cleaning process.
