Step One: Scrape Off Excess Stain

Using a spoon or knife, scrape off any excess shoe polish that is on the surface of the dish. This should help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step Two: Apply Liquid Dish Soap

Once the excess shoe polish has been removed, apply some liquid dish soap to the stained area and let it sit for a few minutes. This will help to break down remaining stain.

Step Three: Soak Dish in Warm Water

Fill sink with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap. Place the stained dish in the water and wait for 30 minutes. This is an effective way to remove the stain without needing to scrub.

Step Four: Scrub the Stain if Necessary

If you notice that the stain is still present after soaking the dish in soapy water, dip an old toothbrush (or other soft-bristled brush) in some liquid dish soap and gently scrub the stained area.

Step Five: Rinse with Fresh Water

Once the stain has been removed, be sure to rinse the dish with fresh water. This will help to ensure that all of the soapy residue has been removed.
