What You’ll Need

  • Paper towels
  • White vinegar
  • Damp cloth
  • Baking soda
  • Soap or detergent
  • Lemon juice

Removing Shoe Polish Stains from Non-Porous Appliances

To start, use paper towels to absorb any excess shoe polish from the appliance. Next, pour some white vinegar onto a damp cloth and begin rubbing it into stain. The vinegar helps to dissolve the shoe polish, while the cloth acts as an abrasive to help lift it away.

Once the vinegar has had time to work its magic, rinse the stain away with a damp cloth and warm water. Lastly, dry the area thoroughly with a separate cloth.

Removing Shoe Polish Stains from Porous Appliances

The same steps above apply for removing shoe polish from porous appliances, but you should also add a few extra steps. First, mix baking soda with a few drops of soap or detergent and enough lemon juice to make a paste. Spread this paste liberally over the stain and allow it to sit for 15 minutes.

After the paste has done its work, gently scrub the area with a damp cloth. Rinse the paste away and repeat process if stain is still present. Finally, dry the area thoroughly.

Preventing Future Stains

Now that the stain is gone, you’ll want to make sure it doesn’t come back. To do this, it’s best to keep all polishes and cleaners away from your appliances and be sure to wipe up any accidental spills quickly.
