What You’ll Need
- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- An old toothbrush
- A clean cloth or sponge
- Hydrogen peroxide (optional)
The Process
- Begin by using a clean cloth or sponge to dab up as much of the excess shoe polish from the stain as possible.
- Create a cleaning solution made of 1 tablespoon liquid laundry detergent, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, and 1 tablespoon baking soda. Mix well and apply to stained area.
- Lightly scrub the mixture onto the fabric with an old toothbrush.
- Soak stained fabric in cold water for 30 minutes.
- If the stain persists, dab at it with hydrogen peroxide. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Put the garment into washing machine and launder as usual. Make sure to air dry the item afterwards, as heat can set stain further.
