What You Need
- Laundry detergent: Look for a laundry detergent specifically formulated for use on synthetic fabrics.
- Water: Warmer water loosens dirt and oil more effectively, but cold water preserves color.
- White vinegar: White vinegar helps dissolve grease and helps remove oil stains from the fabric.
- Baking soda: Baking soda helps to neutralize odors and acts as an abrasive cleaner to help lift away dirt and grime.
- Toothbrush: A toothbrush can help spread the cleaning solution to all of the hard-to-reach areas.
Instructions
- Mix 1/2 cup of laundry detergent and 1 cup of white vinegar into 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket or sink.
- Soak item of clothing overnight in the mixture. Alternatively, you can treat the garment directly by pouring the solution over it before using a toothbrush to work the cleaning solution into the fabric.
- Wash the garment in the washing machine on the hottest temperature setting. Make sure not to overload machine, as this can cause fabric to stretch.
- If the stain still remains, apply the baking soda directly onto the stained area and rub it in with a cloth. Leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
- Finally, hang your garment up to dry in a well-ventilated area and admire your handiwork!
