Gather Your Supplies

Before you start tackling the stain, make sure you have the right supplies. Here's what you'll need:

  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Cotton balls
  • Soft cloth

Remove as Much of the Stain as Possible

Begin by removing as much of the oil as possible. This will make it easier for the cleaning agents to do their job. Use a soft cloth or cotton balls to blot at the stain. Do not rub or scrub, as this may cause the stain to spread.

Create a Cleaning Solution

Mix equal parts of dish soap and white vinegar with a tablespoon of baking soda. Using a soft cloth, work the solution into the stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then blot the area with a clean soft cloth. Rinse the area with cold water.

Dry the Area

Once you've rinsed the stain, use a soft cloth to dry the area. If the stain is still visible, you may be able to repeat the cleaning process. For delicate fabrics, hand dry the area or use a hair dryer set to low.
