What You Will Need

  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Sponge
  • Soap
  • Clean cloth

Steps To Remove Oil Stain

  1. Mix two tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl with just enough water to make a paste.
  2. Apply the paste directly onto the stain and gently rub it into the fibers with a soft sponge.
  3. Leave the paste to sit on the tie for at least an hour.
  4. Rinse the paste off with cold water and apply some liquid soap.
  5. Gently massage soap into the fibers with your fingers.
  6. Rinse soap off with cold water and let tie air-dry.
  7. Once dry, use a clean cloth to buff the fabric and remove any residual marks.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid using hot water as this can set the stain and make it harder to remove.
  • Never machine wash or dry your tie as the heat will set in the stain.
  • Always test any cleaning product on a hidden area of the tie to make sure it doesn’t damage fabric.
  • If the stain persists, take your tie to a professional cleaner.
