Removing Scissors Oil Stains from a Tent Fabric

For a single-layer tent fabric such as nylon and polyester, use the following steps to remove scissors oil stains:

  1. Blot away any excess oil with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  2. Mix a small amount of dish soap with cold water and dampen a clean cloth with the soapy solution.
  3. Gently blot the stained area with soapy cloth. Do not rub the fabric, as this can cause permanent damage.
  4. Rinse the stained area with cold water and blot with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.
  5. If needed, prepare a vinegar and water solution (1/4 cup of vinegar per 1 cup of water) and use a clean cloth to blot the stained area.
  6. Rinse again with cold water and blot with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.

Removing Scissors Oil Stains from Multi-Layer Tent Fabrics

  6. Rinse again with cold water and blot with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.
  7. Allow the fabric to air dry completely before storing.
