Using Vinegar

Vinegar is an amazing multi-purpose cleaner and it definitely can be used to remove oil stains from clothes. It works as a mild acidic solution that breaks up the oil and makes it easier to wash away.

  • Start by dabbing a paper towel or dry cloth into some white vinegar.
  • Gently rub the paper towel or cloth onto the stained area.
  • Let the vinegar sit on the oil stain for 5-10 minutes.
  • Rinse the stained area.
  • Then, machine wash tank top with warm water and your normal laundry detergent.

Using Baking Soda

Baking soda is a great deodorizer, but it can also be used to help break up oil stains.

  • Make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it directly to the stain.
  • Let paste sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.
  • Launder the tank top as usual with warm water and your normal laundry detergent.

Using Detergent

The best way to treat a fresh oil stain is to immediately blot it with a paper towel, then use detergent to break up the stain.

  • Put a small amount of detergent directly on the oil stain.
  • Scrub the area gently with a soft toothbrush.
  • Rinse area and launder tank top as usual with warm water and your favorite laundry detergent.

Conclusion

Oil stains on tank tops don't have to be a problem. With the right cleansing agents and a bit of elbow grease, you can easily restore your tank top to its former glory.
