Gather the Supplies

Before you get started you need to gather some supplies. To remove the scissor oil stain, you will need: white vinegar, laundry detergent, an old toothbrush, and a clean cloth.

Soak Stain in White Vinegar

Start by soaking the stained area in white vinegar for 20 minutes. This will help to loosen the scissor oil from the fabric. After it has soaked for 20 minutes, rinse the spot with cold water.

Treat Stain with Laundry Detergent

Once the stain is rinsed, apply a bit of laundry detergent directly to the spot. Rub the detergent into the stained area with an old toothbrush. Let the detergent sit for 10 minutes.

Rinse Out the Detergent and Stain

Rinse out detergent and stain with cold water. Make sure to scrub the stain with a clean cloth to ensure it is completely removed.

Let the Socks Air Dry

Once the scissor oil stain is gone, lay socks flat to dry. Do not put them in the dryer, or heat may set the stain.
