Nobody likes finding their favorite pair of sneakers stained with scissors oil. It’s always an upsetting sight and can put a damper on whatever activity you were planning to do. But fear not! With a few simple steps, you can get rid of that pesky scissors oil stain without damaging your footwear. The first thing you’ll want to do is blot up any excess oil. Get a dry cloth, or even a paper towel, and blot up as much of oil as possible. This will help prevent oil from further staining the fabric. The next step is to grab some dish soap, a bowl of warm water, and a clean rag or sponge. You’ll want to combine a few drops of detergent with the warm water, then dip the rag or sponge into the mixture and wring out as much liquid as possible. Then, gently scrub the affected area with the damp rag or sponge in a circular motion. This will help loosen up the oil and make it easier to remove. Once you’ve finished scrubbing, it’s time to rinse off the soap. Again, you’ll want to use a clean rag or sponge and the bowl of warm water. Again, wring out most of the water from the rag or sponge and gently wipe away the soap. Do this until all the soap has been removed. Finally, allow sneaker to air dry. You may want to set it upside down on a drying rack or towel if needed. Once the sneaker is completely dry, check to make sure all oil has been removed. If there are still traces, you may need to repeat the steps listed above.
