What You'll Need

  • Dry-cleaning solvent or rubbing alcohol
  • Stain remover
  • A soft cloth
  • A spray bottle with water

Step One: Apply Dry-Cleaning Solvent or Rubbing Alcohol

Start by dabbing a bit of dry-cleaning solvent or rubbing alcohol onto affected area. Make sure to test the product on a small unseen area first, as this could cause discoloration. Then, gently work the product into the fabric with a soft cloth. Try not to rub it in too harshly, as this could cause more damage to the material.

Step Two: Apply Stain Remover

After the dry-cleaning solvent or rubbing alcohol has been worked into the fabric, apply a bit of stain remover to the affected area. Again, make sure to test this product on a small unseen area of the material before using it. Then, gently massage the stain remover into the fabric. Let it sit for a few minutes before moving on to next step.

Step Three: Rinse with Water

Once the stain remover has had time to work its magic, it's time to rinse fabric with water. Fill up a spray bottle with water and spritz the affected area. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps one and two before rinsing again.

Step Four: Air Dry

Finally, you'll want to let fabric air dry. Hang item up somewhere where it won't be disturbed and allow it to hang until it's completely dry. Once it is, you should find that the scissor oil stains are gone!
