Let's face it – no matter how careful you are with your scissors, accidents happen and sometimes you get oil stains on your clothing. But with the right techniques, you can easily tackle the mess.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you get started, make sure that you have all the materials you need. For this cleaning job, you will need some paper towels, dish soap, liquid laundry detergent and a clean cloth.

Step 2: Remove as Much as Possible

Start by using a paper towel to blot the stain. This should help to remove some of the excess oil, so you can get the rest out more easily. If you have any baking soda or cornstarch on hand, sprinkle some onto the stain and let it sit for several minutes before you start blottting again.

Step 3: Apply Soap and Laundry Detergent

Once you've removed as much of oil as possible, it's time to get to work cleaning. Start by mixing some dish soap with a bit of water and use a clean cloth to gently rub it into the stain. Then, pour a small amount of liquid laundry detergent directly onto the stain and scrub gently with the cloth.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat (If Necessary)

After you've applied the detergent, rinse it off with warm water and then use a cloth to blot away any remaining soap. If you still see some traces of the oil stain, repeat the process until it's completely gone.

Step 5: Dry and Wear

Once you're satisfied that the stain is removed, lay the shorts flat on a towel and allow them to air dry. And voila - you'll be able to wear your favorite shorts without worry the next time you need scissors.
