- Apply a generous amount of liquid dish-washing detergent to the stain.
- Allow the detergent to soak the stain for 15-20 minutes.
- Using a clean cloth, dab the stained area to work the detergent into the fabric.
- If the dish-washing detergent doesn't work, try a pre-treatment stain remover.
- Allow the stain remover to soak in for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse the area with cold water and do not rub the fabric.
- Let fabric air dry, or use a hair dryer to speed up the process.
- Repeat the process if necessary until stain is gone.
Tips
- Seersucker is a delicate fabric and should not be machine washed or dried.
- Always read the care label before treating your garment with any type of cleaner.
- Never use bleach or other harsh chemicals to treat an oil stain.
- When using a pre-treatment stain remover, always test in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it won't damage the material.
- Pre-treat stains as soon as possible. The longer the stain sets, the harder it is to remove.
