Rosepoint lace is a beautiful, intricate type of fabric. It involves fine needlework and delicate thread to create an intricate pattern. Unfortunately, Rosepoint lace is prone to staining, especially from oil-based stains caused by scissors. Whether it be a kitchen accident or a clumsy dress fitting, here’s how you can quickly and safely remove those pesky oil stains from your lace.
You will need some basic supplies for stain removal. These include:
The first thing you need to do is pre-soak the stained area of your fabric with white vinegar and cold water. This will help to loosen the oils so that they are easier to clean. Soak the fabric for at least 15 minutes, but don’t leave it in the mixture any longer than that.
After the pre-soak, gently wash the fabric using a mild detergent and warm water. Work detergent into the fabric with your hands to loosen oils. Rinse fabric thoroughly after washing.
Once the fabric has been washed and rinsed, use a soft cloth to dry the fabric. Once the fabric has been dried, check to see if the oil stain has been removed. If not, repeat the steps until the stain is gone.
