Step By Step Guide

  1. Blot the stained area of fabric with a white cotton cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the oil as possible. Do not rub the oil into the fabric.
  2. Mix a solution of 1-part white vinegar and 1-part water in a large bowl or container. Place the stained fabric into solution and let it soak for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the fabric from the solution and blot the stain with a clean white cloth. Do not rub the solution into the fabric.
  4. Mix a paste of baking soda and lukewarm water. Apply the paste to the stained area with a clean cotton cloth and gently rub paste into the fabric. Let the paste sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Rinse the fabric in cold water and then blot the area with a clean white cloth. Do not rub the fabric while rinsing it.
  6. Let the fabric air dry completely before using scissors on it again. Inspect the area for any remaining oil stains.
