Step 1: Gather Supplies

Before you begin trying to clean the stain, you’ll need to gather some supplies. You’ll need paper towels, a mild detergent, a toothbrush and a soft cloth.

Step 2: Blotting the Stain

Begin by blotting the stain with paper towels. This will help absorb any excess oil. Be sure to use a light pressure so that you don’t spread the stain further.

Step 3: Applying Detergent

Once you’ve blotted the stain, apply a mild detergent with a toothbrush. Work in a small circular motion and be gentle so that you don’t damage the fabric.

Step 4: Rinsing the Detergent

Once you’ve applied detergent, rinse the area with a damp cloth. Make sure to use cold water and press down lightly.

Step 5: Allowing the Stain to Dry

Once you’ve rinsed stain, allow it to air dry before applying any additional treatments. If possible, try to place stained area in direct sunlight for optimal results.
