The first step is to rub some dishwashing soap on the stain. Use your fingers to work the soap into fabric, and then let it sit for 15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the fabric with warm water until the soap is completely gone. Repeat this step as many times as necessary.
Next, prepare a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water. Soak the stained area in this solution for 15 minutes. The acidic properties of vinegar will help to break down oily residues.
Once the stain has been soaked, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the area. Be sure to scrub in a circular motion around the edges of the stain. This will help to remove any remaining oily residue.
Now it’s time to put your pullover in the washing machine. Add a teaspoon of detergent and set the machine to a gentle cycle. To get the best results, add a tablespoon of baking soda to the load. This will help to lift stubborn stains.
Finally, hang your pullover to dry. Your garment should now be clean and free from those pesky oil stains!
