If you’ve ever used scissors on a poncho, chances are you’ve encountered scissors oil stains. The oil can leak out of the blades and leave greasy, discolored spots on fabric. With a few simple steps, however, you can successfully remove the stains without too much difficulty.
What You'll Need
- A clean cloth
- Dish soap
- Baking soda
- Vinegar
- rag
Instructions for Removing Scissors Oil Stains
- First, use a clean cloth to gently blot away any excess oil from the stained area. Be careful not to rub the cloth too hard, as this could spread the stain.
- Mix one part dish soap with one part baking soda to form a paste. Spread the paste directly on the stain, and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Wet a rag or cloth with cold water, then dab it onto the paste to remove it. If you find that the paste has been absorbed into the fabric, you can use a toothbrush to scrub off any remaining residue.
- Mix equal parts vinegar and cold water in a spray bottle. Spray the stain with the mixture, then blot away solution with a dry cloth.
- Let the poncho air-dry completely, then check to see if the stain has been removed.
